The Netherlands - Stroopwafel
Whenever I can get my hands on Stroopwafels, I do. They’re my favourite treat to go alongside an afternoon coffee. I love the way they get all gooey and soft when they side atop your mug for a few minutes. Although I adore them so, I’ve never had a fresh Stroopwafel. So, until I can plan a trip to The Netherlands to fetch one, homemade will have to be the next best thing.
Caramel, Custard Valentines Doughnuts
Soft, pillowy doughnuts filled with super light custard and raspberry preserve. All finished off with a crisp caramel top. Of course they’re heart shaped, the perfect gift for your Valentine.
Denmark - Brunsviger
Hands down, one of my favourite things I've made in the last few months. A must try! I couldn't get enough. Why have I never made it before?! Who knows. Just know I'd make it again in a heartbeat.
Japan - Shokupan
I'm totally obsessed with this bread! Shokupan (otherwise known as Japanese Milk Bread) is the loaf of my dreams. Ultra thin, soft crust with a springy moist crumb. Just perfect. Let me know if you give this one a go
Italy - Maritozzo
These delightfully soft buns are scented with lemon & filled with a sweetened fresh raspberry cream. I've topped mine off with some chopped pistachios as they match so well with raspberries.
Ireland - Soda Bread
For those of you who have never encountered Soda Bread, it is a hearty dense 'quick bread' made without yeast. Instead, it uses Bicarbonate of Soda as a raising agent. It has quite a dense texture but is great if you want something fresh and quick.
